Autonomous Under Karnataka State Law University

The College is Re-Accredited by NAAC with A-Grade. JSSLC has to its credit the significant resources of a major LEGAL INSTITUTION, the expertise of renowned faculty members, and a variety of special program opportunities, the college consistently ranks among the top law schools in the country and among the top 10 public law schools.

Backed by the prestigious reputation of the J S S Mahavidyapeetha and established in 1982, the College has specialized expertise in the areas of business and commercial law, employment law, environmental law, intellectual property law, international and comparative law, public interest law, and taxation law.

JSS Law College is the first law college in the country to become autonomous. Autonomy of an institution is its right of governance to fulfill its objectives with minimum interference or control from others. The concept of autonomy of a college reserves its right to admit students on merit, determine curriculum, impart teaching, evaluate the performance of students and maintain high standards as a higher educational institution with minimum control by the University and the Government. Autonomous status lays emphasis on what shall be taught, how it shall be taught and how it shall be evaluated. The degree, however, will be awarded by the Karnataka State Law University, Hubballi.

  • B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) – 10 Semester / 5 Years
  • B.B.A., LL.B (Hons.) – 10 Semester / 5 Years
  • LL.B – 6 Semester / 3 Years
  • Master of Laws (4 Semesters / 2 Years)
  • BA, LL.B. (Hons.) – To be eligible for admission to First Semester of B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) degree programme, a candidate should have passed PUC / Intermediate examination (10 + 2) or its equivalent recognized by any University by Securing 45% (in case of SC/ST candidates 40%) of marks.
  • BBA.,LL.B(Hons.) – To be eligible for admission to First Semester of B.B.A.,LL.B(Hons) degree programme, a candidate should have passed PUC / Intermediate examination (10 + 2) or its equivalent recognized by any University by Securing 45% (in case of SC/ST candidates 40%) of marks.
  • LL.B. (3 Years) Any candidate who is a graduate or a post graduate of any University or possessing such academic qualifications, which are considered to be equivalent to graduate of post graduate degree of any University recognised by the Bar Council of India, securing 45% (in case of SC/ST candidates 40%) of marks shall be eligible for admission for the First semester of three years LL.B.
  • The admission committee, however, may determine the eligibility of the candidates.
  • LL.M.(2 Years) Candidates possessing a degree in Law from any recognised University complying with the eligibility criteria are eligible for admission to Postgraduate Degree course with a minimum of 45% marks (40% for SC/ST candidates).

Admission to B.A.,LL.B. (Hons.), B.B.A.,LL.B(Hons.) and LL.B Degree Programme is made purely on the basis of merit. The admission to the courses shall be subject to fulfilling the conditions stipulated in the regulations at the time of admission and production of documentary evidence of their eligibility. The candidate shall, after submission of duly filled application, appear before the admission committee for screening. The admission committee shall determine the eligibility of the candidate for admission.
