The age of litigation lawyering is gradually giving place to Corporate lawyering, Transactional lawyering, Techno-lawyering and the lawyers as social welfare activities and academicians. The lawyers are no longer seen as money making machines grilling clients. The age of techno-lawyering, computer knowing lawyers and Judges is the need of the hour. The internet has brought the lawyers and technocrats of the whole world at door step of one at the other. The problems are gigantic and vexed. The society is demanding high from legal profession. The cost corruption and the delay in the courts want much from the legal fraternity to come out of its traditional robes and take up the cudgel what society actually expects them to do.
Law schools have to rise to the occasion and must produce graduates and specialists who can meet the challenges of developed societies and prepare themselves for the life to come, amidst new and newer challenges.
The MATS Law School is the best in present generation Law Schools established at Raipur(C.G) with the objective of providing world class legal education which could prepare experts in law who are trained to play decisive roles in all walks of life of law, may be, as litigating advocates in court, Corporate lawyers in corporate affairs, transactional lawyers advising clients in pleading and drafting of deeds, Techno-lawyers in construction and property dealing business or academicians laying down new principles of law for guidance of the legislators, Judges, policy makers, public officials or may themselves take upon the responsibilities of these for the welfare of the society. The school trains civil society activities, counsel for private sectors, corporate lawyers for corporate services or techno-lawyers maintaining the highest possible standards of professional ethics and public welfare.
Keeping the above in mind legal education of the day doesn’t require only teaching of law subjects but it rises up to the requirement of specialist Bar and needs of trade, commerce and the industry. The globalization has given new challenges to the legal fraternity and as such the MATS law school has come up to ensure academic excellence wherein the nature and organization of law & legal practice have gone a paradigm shift. We at MATS Law School are offering courses to meet the above challenges by courses leading to the award of BBA,LL.B, BALL.B (five year Hons degree course) and B.Tech LL.B( six year Hons degree course). The BCI has already been moved for onward permissions. The course contents of these degrees are same as are adopted by National Law Universities including their in Moot Court, CRE’s, ten compulsory internships, projects, snaps and 100% assisted placement. The Admission is on basis through CLAT, L-SAT followed by interview. Separate facilities for hostels for boys and girls is available.
At the post graduate level, the Law School is offering six trimester LL.M course and two years annual LL.M course (only for Government employees, serving Judicial Officers and employees of public and private organizations and advocates of subordinate’s courts). In trimester system, the examination is held every 3 months and in annual pattern once in a year. From 2011-12 semester is mooted at the place of trimester.
At research level LL.D program (only for Hon’ble Judges of High Court and Apex Courts of the world) is beening run. There is encouraging response for this category from different High Courts in India and reaction from foreign Judges is awaited. This is a post doctoral degree and such those with Ph.D\D.phil alone or eligible for enrolment except for Hon’ble Judges which forms a distinguished category. Admission is direct by RDC on basis of synopsis.
Ph.D in Law and M.phil degrees are open to those having post graduate in law or any other liberal discipline in Law faculty. The admission to these courses is only by entrance examination.
The MATS Law School is constituent college\department housed in a palatial building of MATS University. The University has been established by the Government of CHHATTISGARH by C.G Act of 29 of 2006 in private sector. The Governor of Chhattisgarh HE. Shekhar Dutt is the visitor of University Hon’ble R.Chinraj Jain is the Chancellar, Mr. Gajraj Pagaria is Promotar, Mr. Susheel Pagaria is CEO, Dr.Kanwal Singh is V.C, Prof A.K.Shukla is the Registrar, Prof. G.P.Tripathi is Director of Law School and Mr. Gukulanda Panda is CAO of the University. The University has been recognized by UGC(under section 2(f) of UGC Act, 1956) and under section 7.1(I) from BCI for Purposes of Advocates Act,1961.
Eligibility For Admission At Mats Law School:
A candidate for admission to B.B.A. LL.B. (Honours) Degree Course:
1. Should have passed the 10+2 examination in any stream with not less than 50% marks in aggregate (those appearing in 2010 also eligible);
2. Should not have completed 20 years of age as on 1st July 2010.
