About the Test
- LSAT—India is a standardized test of reading and verbal reasoning skills designed by the USA–based Law School Admission Council (LSAC) for use by law schools in India.
- The LSAT—India will be administered across 15 cities in India on 5th May, 2012
- LSAT—India is a paper-and-pencil test with four sections.
- Test duration – 2 hours and 20 minutes
- Question type – Multiple Choice format
- Registration Fee – Rs. 3500/-
- Registration Window: Candidates can register for LSAT—India through ONLINE mode or by sending a Demand Draft. Registration windows are different for these modes.

LSAT—India Registration/Student Application Process
- Register online for the LSAT—India entrance test by logging on to http://www.pearsonvueindia.com/lsatindia. The LSAT—India registration fee is Rs. 3500/-
; the fee can be paid online or by a demand draft/pay order/ banker's cheque. The candidate can also contact Pearson VUE at LSATIndia@pearson.com for more information. On completion of the registration, all candidates will get an LSAT—India registration number. Candidates will need to mention this LSAT—India registration number while submitting the application forms to the participating colleges.
- After obtaining the LSAT—India registration number, the candidate must download/obtain the application form from the participating college. The college admission application forms will require candidates to mention their LSAT—India registration number. Candidates must ensure that they write their LSAT—India registration number at the given place in the Application Form of the participating colleges.
- All registrants who complete the test registration, pay the test fee in a timely way, and follow published test rules may sit for the LSAT—India. It is the candidates' responsibility to understand the eligibility requirements of the participating law schools to which he/she is applying before deciding to register for the LSAT—India. If a candidate registers for the test and then determines that he/she is ineligible for admission to the intended law school, no test-fee refund will be available.
- Test Scores of students writing the LSAT—India will be transmitted to the participating colleges (refer to Participating Colleges link for details).

Terms and Conditions for applying for the LSAT—India, by LSAC to be administered in 2012
The terms and conditions envisaged herein are integral to, and over and above, the various other terms and conditions laid down by the educational institute/university concerned where the candidates are proposing to seek admission as also other approvals, terms and conditions that may be laid down by concerned regulatory authorities.
Candidates applying for the Law School Admission Test—India, by LSAC ("LSAT—India") examination are advised to go through the below-mentioned terms and conditions carefully, understand the same and thereafter apply for the same online. A "Candidate" is one who registers with NCS Pearson India Private Limited ("Pearson VUE") for taking the LSAT—India examination for a possible admission to an educational institution in India conducting courses in the subject of law.
The Candidates need to click "I Agree". Clicking the "I Agree" button will be a deemed acceptance of these terms and conditions and the undertakings provided therein and form a valid and binding contract relating to Test Rules.
The role of Pearson VUE is limited to conducting and evaluating the LSAT—India examination and declaring the results for the same. It is specifically understood that Pearson VUE is not the entity imparting legal education nor is it required to take any approvals for conducting these examinations.
Prior to the Test Date
- The LSAT—India is a paper-and-pencil test with four sections. Two of the sections contain logical reasoning questions; one section contains analytical reasoning questions; and one section contains reading comprehension questions. The amount of time allotted for each section is 35 minutes. All questions are multiple-choice. Please note that some sections may consist of questions with four answer choices, while the other sections consist of questions with five answer choices. Answers are collected on a scannable answer sheet. Only correct answers will count toward the score; there is no penalty for incorrect answers.
- The LSAT—India consists of questions that evaluate a candidate's logical reasoning, analytical reasoning, and reading comprehension abilities. The LSAT—India free practice test can be downloaded from the following link www.pearsonvueindia.com/lsatindia.
- The registration form for the LSAT—India is meant to be used only for registration for the Law School Admission Test—India, by LSAC, to be administered on 5th May, 2012, in specified cities. It is not valid, and is not to be used, for any other purpose whatsoever.
Registration
- Candidates need to register online for the LSAT—India at the website www.pearsonvueindia.com/lsatindia. Registrations will close at 11:59 PM IST (Indian Standard Time) on 15th April, 2012. Candidates who make payments through bankers cheque/ demand draft or pay order, kindly note that registration window will close on 12th April, 2012. Pearson VUE shall not accept registrations from candidates in any other mode or form.
- Confirmation of completed registration and payment will be sent by electronic mail only. Pearson VUE shall not be held responsible for non-receipt of confirmation e-mails due to incorrect e-mail addresses being entered by the applicant or due to any technical problems with receipt of e-mail in case of electronic confirmation.
- Registration forms received without the proper notified registration fee or insufficient or incorrect details or received beyond the specified closing time and date for submitting the registration form, will be summarily rejected and Pearson VUE shall not entertain any queries with respect to the same.
- Candidates need to ensure that the information submitted by them is correct in all respects. In case any information is found to be incorrect at a later date, Pearson VUE shall have the right to cancel the test score, and inform the educational institution receiving such a test score from Pearson VUE. In the event of the cancellation of the score due to furnishing of incorrect information, the registration fee paid by the candidate will not be refunded.
- There is no provision for on-the-spot registration for the LSAT—India on the day of the test. Candidates have to follow the prescribed registration process published as part of the LSAT—India announcement on the website.
- Only one registration can be made by a candidate. Duplicate registrations are liable to be rejected.
- The online application form filling process allows candidates to save the form without submitting it. Candidates need to be careful while submitting the form that once a form is submitted, the candidate cannot make any changes to the form.
- A form is considered valid only if submission is made, and the registration fee is received by Pearson VUE by the due date. Registration forms, for which the registration fee is not received in time, will be rejected outright.
- In case the candidate registers online using a credit card that does not belong to him/her, the candidate needs to furnish a signed statement from the credit card holder as per the format provided below. Failure to furnish the aforestated signed statement, if applicable, shall render the registration form invalid, and the same shall be void without prior notice. The candidate needs to print the following statement, get it filled out and signed from the credit card holder, and carry the physical signed statement along with the credit card that was used for the transaction, for signature verification, to the test venue on the day of the exam. The candidate will not be allowed to sit for the test if this requirement is not fulfilled.
(Candidates who register online using a credit card will receive instructions to this effect as part of the confirmation e-mail that will be sent based on successful online registration. This e-mail will include the statement format as given below)-

Registration Fees
- FEES: Registration fee for the test is Rs. 3500/-, payable by credit card or demand draft/pay order/ banker's cheque at the time of registration (kindly note that the last date of payments receipt differs for these two modes; candidates are advised to check "Important dates" for details). This fee includes a free practice test that a candidate can download when he/she registers for the test. All three types of questions are included, along with explanations regarding how to approach each question type.
Payment will be accepted in Rupees for candidates writing the LSAT—India by Visa and Master Card credit cards issued in India only and no other debit or bank credit card.
In case a candidate taking the test is unable to provide the payment by the specified credit cards, he/she will have an option to enter the demand draft/pay order/banker's cheque details online, obtain an online acknowledgement, and mail the physical DD/PO/Banker's cheque along with the acknowledgement to the address of Pearson VUE specified. Demand draft/pay order/banker's cheque is to be drawn in favor of NCS Pearson India Private Limited payable at New Delhi or NOIDA.
- Pearson VUE will not be held responsible for late or non-delivery of any material or information sent by it through electronic mail and/or post to candidates. No refunds will be issued to candidates who:
(1) fail to appear for a scheduled test;
(2) fail to meet the identification and admit card requirements; or
(3) fail to meet or violate LSAT—India test rules and policies.
There will also be no refunds for candidates who do not reach or reach late at the testing centre on the test date.
- Pearson VUE shall not allow any candidate to sit for the test or release the test score to the educational institution/university concerned in case the online payment received from the candidate is repudiated. No such repudiation will be permitted after the expiry of 30 (thirty) days from the date of payment in case of payment by credit card or debit card or net banking. Any requests made after the time period of repudiation will not be entertained and the amount so paid will be forfeited.
Refund of Registration Fee
- No refund of registration fee will be made by Pearson VUE once the registration form is satisfactorily accepted.
- All applicants who complete the test registration, pay the test fee by the prescribed date, and follow published test rules may sit for the LSAT—India . It is the responsibility of the candidate to understand the eligibility requirements of the law schools to which he/she is applying before deciding to register for the LSAT—India . If the candidate registers for the test and then determines that he/she is ineligible for admission to the law school of his/her choice, no test-fee refund will be available. For the eligibility requirements of participating law schools, please visit the college websites or the appropriate contact listed by the college at “Participating Colleges”.
Admit Card
- Only candidates whose registration form has been properly completed in all respects and received by Pearson VUE within the stipulated time and who have paid the applicable Test Fee will be entitled to take the LSAT—India examination for that particular calendar year. The admit card will be available for download from this website for all candidates whose registration is accepted. Each admit card ticket will include a unique candidate identification number generated at the time of registration which shall be the candidate's "registration number".
- Admit cards of eligible candidates, whose registration requirements are complete in all respects, would be available for download from 29th April, 2012 to 4th May, 2012.
- Pearson VUE is not responsible for any candidate who is not able to download the admit card due to entering of wrong information. Pearson VUE is not responsible for non-download of the same due to any force majeure conditions. Candidates who are not able to download their admit card can call the customer support phone number published on www.pearsonvueindia.com/lsatindia or e-mail lsatindia@pearson.com to seek assistance.
Applicants with Disabilities
In case a candidate has a vision or mobility impairment, he/she is required to state the same in the registration form. A scribe will be allowed to assist candidates with vision impairments, and mobility assistance will be available for those with mobility impairments. Candidates with vision impairment please note that a large-print test may be available, depending upon the severity.
Pearson VUE reserves the right to make final judgment regarding testing accommodations in accordance with LSAT—India 's requirements.
Test Centre Change/Rescheduling or Cancellation of Exam
A candidate can not reschedule or cancel his/her examination or request for test centre change once he/she has registered for the LSAT—India.
Test Results Reporting to Candidates
Test results generally will be reported approximately four (4) weeks after the test date.
Day of the Test
- Candidates are required to reach the test centre as per the time details mentioned in their admit cards. Candidates reporting at the test centre after the scheduled time will not be admitted. NO REQUESTS FOR EXCEPTIONS WILL BE ENTERTAINED IN THIS REGARD. The test administrator is not authorized to admit candidates arriving late.Testing centres will be in a comfortable environment.
- The candidate needs to bring the following to the test centre:
- Test admit card, without which the candidate will not be allowed to take the test.
- HB pencils and erasers.
- One valid (original and non-expired) photo identification proof
The following are considered valid Photo ID documents:
i. Driving License
ii. PAN Card
iii. Passport
iv. Voter ID card
v. School/College/University Identity Card
vi. Any other Government issued photo ID
If a registrant for five-year LSAT—India does not have any of the above IDs, she/he will be admitted upon presentation of ANY TWO of the following, in original:
i. Tenth Pass Certificate/Mark Sheet that has Date of Birth on it
ii. School Identity Card (photo)
iii. Original Admit Card issued by University/Board for Twelfth Standard Examination (photo)
- Candidates who are unable to produce one of the above forms of valid ID, in original will NOT BE admitted into the testing room and shall not be offered a test-fee refund.
- The test invigilator, after checking the admit card of the candidate, will guide the candidate to the seat allotted to him/her in the examination hall. The candidate must ensure that he/she occupies the seat allotted to him/her by verifying the test registration number pasted/written on the desk and indicated in the admit card.
- All candidates are required to be in their seats as per the time given in their admit cards. The test procedure begins with the distribution of the answer sheet (AS). The candidate must fill in his/her name, as it appears in the admit card. The test registration number and other details mentioned in the AS must also be filled. Candidate must use only HB pencil for filling up the AS.
- On receipt of the question paper candidates will tear open the tamper proof seal only when the invigilator asks them to open the seal. Any candidate, who opens the seal prior to the announcement by the invigilator, may be liable to get disqualified from the test. When the candidate gets the question paper, it must be made sure that the question paper is in right condition. In case of any issues, the matter should be immediately brought to the notice of the invigilator who distributed the question paper.
- The question paper contains four sections. Each section contains items/questions. The candidate must read the directions given for each section of the test carefully. If he/she skips the directions, he/she may miss the main idea and lose credit for some questions in that section.
- Candidates should put their pencils down when the invigilator asks them to, else they may be disqualified. After the test is over, candidates should remain seated until the invigilator collects the answer sheets and question papers. The candidate will be allowed to leave the hall only after the answer sheets and question papers of all the candidates in the examination hall have been collected and accounted for.
Admitting the Candidate & Valid Identification
- Candidates will be required to show identification, in original, with recognizable photograph and signature. The only acceptable forms of ID are School/University/ College ID card, passport; driver's license; election card; PAN card or any other Govt. issued photo ID.
If a registrant for five-year LSAT-India does not have any of the above IDs, she/he will be admitted upon presentation of ANY TWO of the following:
i. Tenth Pass Certificate/Mark Sheet that has Date of Birth on it
ii. School Identity Card (photo)
iii. Original Admit Card issued by University/Board for Twelfth Standard Examination (photo)
- Candidates must arrive at the test venue at least 30 minutes prior to scheduled start time of the test, else the candidate shall not be admitted.
- Persons accompanying the candidate will not be allowed into the test premises, and no waiting area provision will be provided.
- Candidates must adhere to the LSAT—India policies, rules and regulations which will be available at the specified website.
- Proctors shall have the right to exclude candidates who fail to follow the testing centre rules and procedures.
- Proctors will not be expected to provide or collect any registration forms from candidates.
- Proctors will neither score the completed LSAT—India Answer sheets nor provide the candidate with any LSAT—India results.
- Only pre-registered candidates with names appearing on the attendance roster and who have admission tickets will be permitted to take the LSAT—India.
- Once a candidate has been successfully registered at a testing centre, the candidate will not be permitted to transfer to another testing centre.
- In case the candidate registered online using a credit card that does not belong to him/her, the candidate needs to furnish the signed statement from the credit card holder and the credit card for signature verification at the test venue on the day of the exam, as specified in the registration section of this document.
Prohibited Items
The candidate must not carry any articles such as cellphones, calculators, pens, arms, etc., as only the admit card, IDs in original, HB pencils and erasers are required for the test and all other articles would have to be left outside the test hall at the candidate's own risk.
Instructions for Answer Sheet
- The answer sheet (AS) for LSAT—India would require the candidate to darken the circle against an option considered correct by the candidate for every attempted question.
- Candidates must read the instructions carefully for marking the answers on the AS.
- Candidates must use HB PENCIL only and should not use a fountain pen or ball pen on the AS.
- Since the AS will be read by an OMR machine, the candidate must ensure that he/she fills in the cells clearly, darken the circles evenly and completely, and do not leave any smudges or stray marks on the AS. Pearson VUE would not be responsible for any error in reading the AS due to use of non HB pencil or incomplete darkening of the intended answer. While adequate care is taken in processing the answer sheets, Pearson VUE would not entertain any request for revaluation of answer sheet by any candidate.
